Bob's your uncle

Leif is finishing up a too-long stint working Monday through Friday in the Uintah Basin. Last week when my kids saw him for the first time all week, they all ran and jumped in his arms. We miss him so much when he's gone.

They're so happy together.

 Late last Saturday night our fridge flooded when the filter broke. Leif was asleep in the tent in the backyard, but when I yelled to him that our kitchen had flooded he was on it faster than you can say Bob's-your-uncle. (You just said it, didn't you?) So we had Leif's noisy flood equipment in our kitchen through Tuesday. It's pretty convenient for our landlords that Leif lives in their house.

It was another busy week. They just keep piling up on top of each other. I get through one week with a sigh of relief then look at my calendar and anxiety creeps right back in. Track season just makes everything so crazy. If it lasted longer than 11 weeks I'd consider cutting it out, but man, I just love it!

Conference weekend was lovely. With Gavin sick and Dax asleep through most sessions, I took longer notes than usual and heard some real gems. Some of my favorites:

-New temple announced for Cedar City, yay!
-Faith is a real power not just an expression of belief.
-There are few things more powerful than the prayers of a righteous mother.
-During the sacrament, ponder your life in advance.
-Just as a woman cannot bear a child without a man, a man cannot fully exercise the power of the priesthood to establish an eternal family without a woman. The procreative power and the priesthood power are shared by both husband and wife.
-Guilt is to our spirit what pain is to our body: warning against danger. Serious spiritual wounds require sustained treatment and time to heal fully.
-The way we talk with children affects their view of themselves.
-No other relationship of any kind can bring as much joy, generate as much good, or bring as much personal refinement than marriage.
-Obedience to law is liberty.
-What we know will always trump what we do not know. We wrongly assume declaring our weakness first is a stronger petition, but it's not. In difficult times, hold fast to what you already know and stand strong until further knowledge comes.
